Monthly play reading meeting. Come and listen to a potential play for next season and give your input.

Michael Armstrong is going to present Tally's Folly, written by Lanford Wilson.


This play is the 1980 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama!


The play: Set in a boathouse on the river in Lebanon, Missouri, July 4, 1944. Matt Friedman, an accountant from the city, met Sally Talley at a local dance hall a year ago while on vacation and they fell in love. He has written her almost every day since and she has never replied. He has come down to Lebanon to see her and convince her to marry him. Over the course of an hour and a half, they work their way through many obstacles until finally he breaks through to her.


The playwright: Lanford Wilson is a famous American playwright wih numerous plays to his credit. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Talley’s Folly in 1980 as well as an Obie Award and NY Drama Critics Circle award. His work has been performed widely. Other well known works include Fifth of July, Burn This, and Hot L Baltimore.


The play has 2 characters: (1 M, 1 F): Sally Talley, 30’s, Matt Friedman, 40’s
